Tournament style competition?
« on: June 04, 2012, 08:37:49 PM »

So I will be competing in my first tournament style yoyo competition this weekend and I've never been in one like that before. So I wanted to know how this is best approached.

The competition is the Indiana State yoyo competition and the tournament is set up like this:

Qualifying round
Everyone. One minute freestyles

Round of 16
16 competitors > 8 matches of one-minute freestyles

8 competitors > 4 matches of one-minute freestyles

4 competitors > 2 matches of two-minutes

Third Place Match - the two players that were eliminated in the Semifinals.
2 competitors > 1 match of three-minute freestyles

First Place match - Winners from Semifinals
2 competitors > 1 match of three-minute freestyles

So my main question is should I make multiple freestyles for each round? or just do the same 1 minute freestyle for each of the 1 minute performances then different freestyles for the longer ones? Should I try to use some different tricks in all of them? Tips of all kinds would be much appreciated!

I've never competed before but I would think mixing each freestyle up would be your best bet.
