I was just thinking about whether or not to get a new bike for next year or just do a few upgrades on the current machine. Way too many choices out there.

Brakes are highly overrated, they only slow you down.

if you look at my bike you can see i ride brakeless but i also run 4 pegs, a typical street setup. he has no pegs, not very good for street. brakes are a necessity for dirt which is typically the only pegless discipline. brakes are almost a necessity fort park/vert unless you are extremely skilled like hoffman. i was just wondering what his style is. i know that there are no rules to how one rides his or her bike but i cant imagine why a person would buy and build that expensive of a bike to just do bunnyhops. not trying to bash his skills, i have never seen him ride therefore i wouldnt know. the purpose of the question was to find out.

i know a bunch of people that ride pegles on the street and a 4 peg set up is very un typical in NYC

I'm just getting into bikes and can't seem to find a good tutorial on building a fixed gear for someone who knows nothing about bikes. (Wouldn't it be great if all hobbies had as much help as YYN does?)

Can anybody recommend a good place to go?

You'll be HCore in no time. Good choices on upgrades. You will really appreciate those lock-on grips when you have to remove them(changing brakes, controls, etc.). Next step will be to buy a hydration pack, then you can ditch the bottle holder but gain a place for a few tools, power bars and other stuff.

What was your choice of helmet?

I really nice Giro Indicator.  I don't even know it's on my head.  O0

All those upgrades were HIGHLY researched. LOL!

I figure I should make all the points of contact fit me as best as possible.
