I've got a bike. You can ride it if you like?

i got this 78' schwinn at the thrift store last weekend for $20.  basically going to trash everything but the frame and rebuild it with new parts after i strip and repaint it.

hopefully it will look like something similar to this when i'm finished with it (except no words on the frame).

The slots are going the wrong direction to make that a single gear.  you won't be able to adjust your chain tension.

I've got a bike.

It's kinda funny though. It's got a Gary Fisher frame, but the rest was rebuilt out of a bunch of random parts by one of my dad's friends. It's even got mismatched tires, the front tire's green and the other is black.  It was later passed on to me.

It doesn't go real fast, but it gets me around.

to enosense you could mae it a single speed by putting a single speed tensioner on it and a freewheel but fixed gear is possible but you chain will streach

these are standard horizontal drop-outs like every other converted bike.  tension can be adjusted normally.  you're thinking of vertical drop-outs which this bike doesn't have.  tons of people have done fixed and single speed conversions on this bike model.

yeah, that looks like it.

yesterday i stripped everything down to just the frame, ground down the braze-ons and painted it. i don't have a pic right now, but this bike has the same color scheme that i'm using except my red is deeper, more like a dark burgundy.  i've got the arctic grey base coat down but i haven't decided on how i'm going to use the red yet.

I've had a fractured elbow, couple bruised ribs, etc. over the years. Plus I do a real good human lawn dart imitation. Other than that I'm feeling fine  ;D

I recently got a "new, old" bike, which I discovered in my basement under a layer of dust.
My dad got it when He graduated from high-school, which makes it about 30 years old.

Pictured is not my bike, but the closest I could find on google images.

Always good to have a mountain to use it on. I live 10 minutes away from biking's "North Shore" where freeride and manmade stunts all began.
