OK,I'm at  level 3. I bought a Yoyojam  Journey but I'm having a hard time with it. (I'm not used to unresponsive yoyos).

I thought the Journey is a responsive yoyo? Double o-ring response.
Lube your bearing a bit see if that helps.
If not, I dunno. I'm still fairly new too, and my Kickside isn't always responsive either, so I just learned how to do a simple bind for now.

sometimes the Journey is responsive, sometimes its not.  Often, I have to tug on the string  2-3 times before it will come back to me.

Does anyone else have a Journey?

I have a question, I'm a level 5-6 and I'm trying to buy a new yo-yo ever since mine broke last year. It says Freehand Zero are pretty good for that level but I'm looking at a Shinwoo Phanton which is very similar to the Freehand Zero and I was wondering would the SP be good for my level?

And also is there like a topic that tells you all the yo-yo lingos means? I haven't played for so long that I don't know any of these words like "a verstile yo-yo," and all these play styles like, "1A, 3A."

Thanks a lot,

I recommend highly to any yoyoer any skill level a YYF ONE I am a 8-9 and I love the throw plus it is so cheap!!!!!! I can do any trick on it I swear the yoyo is amazing.

what I'm loving about those guides is the way that if you follow it to the letter, you'll have about $200 spent in less than a month  ;D ;D ;D I know it because that's basically what happened to me

fast 201 -> frustration and a lot of noise
duncan reflex / yomega brain -> useless by the time they got there (less than a week after ordering)
velocity -> meh, a bit better to learn
and I ended up buying a metal less than a month after starting

I got a question. I've had my first throw for about 4 days and I'm at lvl 4-5 (just smoothing out my basic mounts), and I've got a Kickside. I've been wondering if I should take out the o-ring to make it less responsive? Some times when I'm mounting, the yoyo smacks my hand out of seemingly nowhere and messes up the mount and is really annoying. I could move up to lvl 6-7 and start practicing more complicated string tricks and I can do a simple bind. What do you guys think I should do?

In short, at what point do I make my throw unresponsive? haha

cleaning the bearing out of it's lube seems like the 1st choice here, use lighter fluid, there are info tutorials on the internet about it

I'm trying to learn to bind. It's hard. In meantime,I double looped the string.

You can double loop the string or put some vaseline in the bearing. It's a good replacement for "thick" lube.

My son will be 9 soon and has recently gotten into yoyos, he has several different yoyos that we got at ToysRUs, but now he says he needs an unresponsive yoyo. I can't spend a lot of money and am not sure what would be the best to get him.

The YoyoFactory Whip is a great choice!  It's only 10$ and is very durable and great for beginners!

I would recommend a dark magic 2 for low to mid level players, its what I started with and having the ability to switch from a small bearing to a large bear with the same yoyo is a godsend in saving money as well as saving time learning new tricks.
