easily one of my top bands.
these guys need some serious credit, im pretty musical(i play drums) and this band is filled with so much skill on pretty much all fronts. there vocalist is incredible.

This is the only one I liked out of the video's suggested so far, along with animals as leaders I was shown them a few weeks ago and really like them. I don't like a whole lot of really heavy stuff( I'm more into the melodic side of it) but my favorite band that would fit this I think is Between the Buried and Me. They are a really good prog metal band with a lot of tech and a wide range of different styles thrown in for good measure I think.

Yet for me they seem to not be able to pull it off as well. A lot of the reason I like BTBAM is because of the music, it has so much more to it than most to me. That's why the screaming vocals I can handle with them, cause most of the time I don't like nor can understand the screaming or death growl type stuff hence the melodic statement in my previous post. I can handle it in moderation or tastefulness. Which is the case for BTBAM I dont understand all the lyrics right, but I don't mind it all that much. Also being able to pull off a long song is a plus too.  ;D

I like underoaths new stuff, but Aaron did add a good voice to the mix in underoath but I didn't like him in the almost that much.

I LOVE Between The Buried and Me. The Great Misdirect is one of my favorite "Progressive Metal" albums.

I also really, really like All Shall Perish, IWRESTLEDABEARONCE, Dr. Acula(HAVE YOU HEARD their new album "SLANDER"?!?!?! OH MY GOD! They stepped up real hard.), The Chariot, Norma Jean...

Lamb of God anyone? Finally picked up their 'Wrath' album today and I'm diggin' it so far. Might not be as good as their old stuff, but still good nonetheless

Man I so needed this thread. Let's hope it doesn't turn into a genre bashing / defining argument thread. Here's some of my fav's.

Emmure
Job For A Cowboy
Blood Simple
Shadows Fall
Heaven Shall Burn
As I Lay Dying
Bleeding Through
Avenged Sevenfold
Eighteen Visions
Otep
Unearth
The Devil Wears Prada
Kill Whitney Dead
HORSE The Band
All That Remains
A Day To Remember (I'll be sonic, you be tails)

Lots of others I can't think of.

haha why does genre bashing even occur, i never understood the need to dispute music genres with fellow fans that should be sticking together to enjoy the music  :idiot2:

I know right? It doesn't make sense. We need to stick together but most of us tear each other apart constantly. People will always find something to fight about.

haha i think it last happened last time because the thread was devoted to extreme metal only (death and black metal) and people were posting a bunch of metalcore bands and whatnot

Attila is probably the closest thing to this type of metal that I like. Whitechapel is ok. Early lamb of god is cool too.

I like my metal sludgy and super friggin heavy. Once a singer starts singing like he's in some screamo/pop punk band, I start to hate it. A lot of screamo bands seem to not have any idea which type of music to play. Songs will switch from hiphoppy pop, to pop punk, to a super heavy breakdown, and back to pop punk all while complaining about some ex girlfriend. Can't stand it.

I really ding the soft vocals and super heavyess of post hardcore bands, im even digging the electronica and dubstep thats being mixed in with them...Abandon all ships is godly...once things get hip hoppy tho...im out.
Dont get me wrong tho i also enjoy stuff thats straight hard, and non stop screams as well. The only band that i didnt like that has been mentioned in this thread is dance gavin dance...ewww :-P

Random thought.. anyone like haste the day??

That's another thing I like and what I meant by the melodic reference. I don't know if these guys with fit in or just miss the mark or not, but I like A skylit drive too which fits this description for me. I have something for high pitch vocals too. And I think Haste the Day are ok, not my fav though.

Here's a vid just in case you don't know them(not likely but just in case).

Just a thought, would Emarosa be considered Post-Hardcore? Or Pierce the Veil?
I think you're one of the worst members I've ever seen on YYN.
